Akila Sellami Baklouti got her PhD in linguistics from the University of Metz (France) and her HDR from the University of Carthage (Tunisia). She is a Professor of English language and linguistics at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Sfax (Tunisia) and Director of the Research laboratory Approaches to Discourse (LR13ES15). She lectures mainly on syntax, semantics, systemic functional grammar, academic writing and research methodology. Her research interests include systemic functional linguistics, contrastive language studies and the syntax-semantics-discourse interface with a special focus on genre analysis.

SYFLAT is an academic association interested in the field of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), a school of linguistics founded by the British linguist M. A. K. Halliday in 1961, and then developed and applied to many other fields.
